Why it exists

A useful calculator should show how it reached its answer. Each one here shows the inputs, a breakdown of the result, a schedule or table you can read without the chart, and the assumptions and exclusions behind the estimate.

It should also respect your privacy. Calculations run in your browser, with no accounts, cookies, analytics, or ads. The privacy page explains exactly what that means.

How the calculators are built and checked

• Each financial model is written as code that is tested against independently worked examples and boundary cases, such as zero interest rates and targets that are already reached.
• Worked examples on the calculator pages are checked by those tests, so the page text and the calculator agree.
• Formulas and definitions are based on primary sources such as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the FDIC, and Investor.gov, which are linked where they are used.
• Compounding, payment timing, rounding, and exclusions are documented in the methodology and on each calculator page.

What it is not

The calculators give estimates, not advice or lender quotes. Read the disclaimer and terms of use for details.

If you find an error, an unclear explanation, or a result that looks wrong, please email contact@evenfigures.com with the calculator and the inputs you used. Reports are read, and confirmed errors are corrected.
